The Structural Mechanics Laboratory conducts research on wood, straw, concrete additives, white cement, reinforced concrete elements, and aggregates. The laboratory aims to equip students with skills such as conducting experiments, collecting data, and analyzing results for their final projects. In previous years, experiments have been conducted on wood material analysis, simple frames made from wood and steel composites, material testing on bamboo, and modeling the deficiencies found in common market concrete beams and their effects on beams.

The main experimental area features a 3 x 1.5 meter active testing area and a 20-ton capacity loading frame. The relevant system is used with the TDG TESTBOX series static data collection system. This data collection system can be used with all the devices available in the laboratory. The system can be configured and calibrated by engineers and technicians working in the laboratory for use with other equipment.
The 20-ton capacity concrete bending test machine helped approximately 10-15 students conduct experimental final projects every year before the pandemic. The relevant device is connected to the current data collection system, and data is collected from LVDTs, potentiometric rulers, strain gauges, and load cells. These experiments primarily focused on wood, reinforced concrete, and bamboo materials, with students' requests and market needs taken into account when designing the tests. When possible, engineering mistakes were demonstrated to students practically, aiming to improve their ethical values.

The Mechanical Test Group Room includes devices used in the preparation of experiments such as an aggregate abrasion table, Los Angeles abrasion test device, high-capacity oven, stone cutting machine, and small hand tools.
